After isolating batteries as the issue with some research on lithium batteries and cold temperatures, that’s when I saw on the back a new sensor package, that with the standard CR2032 battery the specs for the temperature sensor was only down to -7 C or 20 F. While I was having drop outs above that temperature, it was close enough.
When I changed…[Read more]
wgseaton replied to the topic Would you suggest TARTS wireless sensors for Raspberry PI 3 ? in the forum General 1 year, 11 months ago
Once you rebuild libTarts.so by editing TartsPlatform.cpp and change the PI serial from ttyAMA0 to serial0 it works find.
This is because Pi changed the serial interface from the hardware serial transmitter to a software transmitter.
Because it is now a software UART, if you application makes the Pi busy you might want to slow the interface down…[Read more]
I put 6 temperature sensors in the freezer, as soon as 4 went below freezing they quit.
One of the remaining lasted a few hours then quit. Temperature was 10 degrees F
The remaining sensor continued to work.
Anyone having problems with their wireless sensors below freezing?
Two of my four 0-500 VAC sensors have quit working or at least quit reporting to the gateway.
I have a raspberry Pi gateway and 7 other temperature and contact sensors working.
I changed gateways and did not discovered these sensors not reporting in till the next day.
I am hoping they did not fail just in some wait mode.
I have not change any…[Read more]
So possible update to the library in the future?
Is there an option to update the firmware?
If not maybe that could be added to the update.
Ps in case anyone is not sure I like their products! I have 25 sensors and 5 Pi Hats so far for my project.
Is there a firmware version option for the Raspberry Pi Gateway?
Do AT Commands work with the Pi Gateway like the IOT Gateway? If so, what is the default serial port and baud rate?
My issue is, if the gateway goes off line for extended period of time, and then starts up on a different channel, if i change the values to 0 will the sensor reconnect?
What if i register the sensor when the Gateway restarts even on a different channel, does that contact the sensor and wake it up and reactivate automatically?
My testing has had…[Read more]
I have seen the gateway on restart picks a different channel, can i force to be a channel?
If i set Recovery to 0, and the gateway restarts on a different channel it will be lost?
The Link Interval default in the manual says 10 minutes. the Link Interval on all my sensors is 110 is that 1 = Time in minutes, 10 minutes? or 110 seconds?
I am monitoring my VAC Voltage Meter and the level for my 120 VAC house is between 147 and 151 VAC.
My volt meter reads 136 VAC.
Does the tart voltage meter require calibration?
Would the level be consonant, so i just need to add or subtract a fix delta?
I have a PI in a plastic box.
I mounted the antenna through a whole in the top cover.
That was a great improvement in receive levels that leaning against the wall next to the Pi.
Is there any improvement in range if i use a metal box and cover?
I am not sure what I did different but i have MySQL working on my PI 3 and write the sensor data to a sql log table with no problems.
My includes are
I configured Gateway and 3 sensors on my Raspberry Pi 3.
I install batteries and they work and start reporting.
I do a quit and shut down the gateway for the night, leave the batteries in the sensors.
The next night when i start testing i restart the application, it registers the Gateway and sensors, but sometimes some or none will start…[Read more]
I complied and have running on a Raspberry PI 3 TartsSniffer.
Learning the sensors and process.
I have 2 wireless temperature sensors, a dry contact and a 500 V sensor.
When i first started the app a temperature sensor shows up and request to be registered.
Then the second but when the dry contact connects the TartsSniffer app exits after…[Read more]
I discovered when you do step 2 it set enable_uart=0
So I changed to enable_uart=1 and rebooted, now back to the original issue about wiringPiSetup*
I am on a new Pi 3
My /boot/cmdline.txt is if that makes any difference.

I got that error on my Pi 3.
When i disable the serial console vi raspi-config, I can no longer SSH into the Pi.
The TartsSniffer fails with:
